Brock Script is a popular free font (& web font) by Dieter Steffmann. This font family can be used commercially, even as a web font (#webfont), as long as it isn't modified and no derivative fonts are created from it.
DESCRIPTION:
Brock Script uses elaborate, sweeping circular strokes to embellish the capital letters of a very clean, beautiful handcrafted calligraphic cursive script that was already created with wonderful penmanship. This script is awesome for formal invitations & cards, cursive script logos, and projects that require a personal, formal and/or hand made touch.
DISTRIBUTION:
This is a free font family (never to be sold without the author's permission) created by Typographer Mediengestaltung. This font is OK for commercial use, even as a web font. No derivatives are allowed, although this font may be converted to an alternate font format for various digital platforms as long as it maintains the integrity of the original font.
Note that Dieter Steffmann once went under the brand, "Typographer Mediengestaltung", as sometimes the Copyright for his fonts may reflect, but this is still Dieter Steffmann and his typography business brand. You can usually find his business logo in each font, as well.
A FREE FONT
The authoring artist, Dieter Steffmann, has very little restrictions on the use of his free fonts (so, personal/commercial/charity work is OK, and you may use it as a web font {#webfont}, too, EXCEPT that he maintains his full Copyright worldwide, and therefore this font should not be modified or otherwise used to create a derivative font, and that this font should never be sold without his permission. The font in this archive is offered 'as is' without any warranty. ...This has been a quick synopsis on authorized use, more info is given under the DETAILS section, below, and in the text file "License.txt" included in this distribution archive.
ARCHIVE ORIGINATION:
Dieter Steffmann's official distribution came with the Postscript Type 1 font and the TrueType font. This distribution archive includes the originally distributed Postscript Type 1 and True Type fonts as well as a variety of other converted formats (OpenType, SVG, WOFF & WOFF2). The OpenType (OTF) font was created from the PS Type 1 version (the BrockScript.pfb, BrockScript.afm, & BrockScript.pfm files) using the FontConverter on a Mac (available in the Apple app store) to maintain metrics and hinting, then the OpenType font was used to generate all the other versions that follow: The Web Open Font Format (WOFF, file BrockScript.woff) and the Scalable Vector Graphics font (SVG, file BrockScript.svg) font files were converted online (using the font converter at https://fontconverter.org/). I have not been able to test the svg version, yet. The WOFF2 web font conversion was also created online (at https://www.fontconverter.io/).
Everything has been scanned and cleared as free of viruses.
OTHER CONVERSIONS:
Converting to other font formats is authorized as long as the conversions maintain the integrity of the original font. As noted a variety of additional popular font formats are included in this distribution archive.
Also of note is the fact that the TrueType font format is used widely on the web as another acceptable web font format. The WOFF (Web Open Font Format) & WOFF2 alternates are also a web font standard.
The original sample image of the font(s) was converted to a PNG image and has been included, along with new preview images at a larger font size for each font, to show-off more of the detail of each of the font(s).
A 'License.txt' text file document has been added to allow easy lookup of the authorized use of this font.
The new characters preview images and this updated documentation were created by Doug Peters of Symbiotic Design for Font-Journal. These fonts have been checked and validated as the most recent known available versions at the time of this font distribution archive upload.

Also note however, that Mr. Steffmann created a large volume of free fonts (over 600). I have much to do to include and document each one of his fonts (both the ones I will add and the older ones that have previously been archived before I took over the database and started documenting each new archive).
Perhaps Dieter Steffmann didn't include documentation in his original distribution archives because because the license was usually specified on the website or download page. But then the license gets separated from the downloaded archive. I, as a designer myself, like to retain proof that a free font I downloaded is as such (a free font) by including documented conditions of use along with any extra info I can find. It also helps me easily lookup the license and remind myself that I cannot use this font as a basis for another version (or create a derivative font). This is the reason for Font-Journal.
